Etihad launches the world’s first green loyalty program: Etihad frequent flyer rewards members to make sustainable choices

[ad_1]

Etihad Airways’ award-winning loyalty program The Etihad Frequent Flyer Program has launched a series of sustainability-focused programs to reward members who make “green” choices and offer options to reduce their carbon footprint.

Conscious Choices is a series of new sustainable initiatives provided by the Etihad Frequent Flyer Program, which aims to support Etihad’s overall sustainable development ambitions of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and increasing the Emissions are halved. Travelers who want to fly and spend in a more conscious and sustainable way can now earn tiered miles and other rewards by making sustainable choices.

In order to allow Etihad frequent flyer members to travel with a lighter carbon footprint, Conscious Choices provides passengers with graded miles and additional benefits to reduce the amount of luggage on board and use Etihad frequent flyer miles to offset the carbon emissions of flights . In daily life, when not taking an airplane, members can earn tiered miles by offsetting their daily emissions (such as driving). The optional offset value ranges from one month to one year, as well as emissions (e.g. for your Cool down at home or cook for dinner) one month to one year; donate miles for green causes; and purchase sustainable products from the Etihad Guest Reward Store through cooperation with Collinson and CarbonClick. Members can also choose “green” by choosing a digital membership card instead of a physical membership card. Using tier mileage reward members can help them maintain their current tier or upgrade to a new tier to unlock more benefits.

Etihad Airways is the first airline in the world to reward frequent travelers because they are more sustainable in the air and on the ground. The sustainable behavior of members has been captured, so they can be rewarded by using miles to offset flights and purchasing sustainable products in the reward store, and the full plan and benefits will be launched in January 2022.

According to Tony Douglas, CEO of Etihad Aviation Group: “Etihad’s commitment to sustainability is at the core of our business, and we are happy to welcome our 8 million members to join this sustainability journey. Authorize our members to offset their personal travel in a sustainable way Or go shopping and get rewards for it, making the Etihad’s sustainable development plan even more important.

“Although Etihad Airways focuses on developing operational efficiency technologies and innovative solutions to actively reduce carbon dioxide emissions in flight, we also pay attention to passengers. To this end, we have been developing a sustainable loyalty program last year. Listen to members’ feedback and consider their priorities and expectations for travel. Through this, we have perfected a plan that will provide members with the ability and motivation to travel more sustainably, while further consolidating us as an earth-conscious The status of travel and lifestyle brands.”

In the past two years, despite the challenges of COVID-19, Etihad Airways has launched a number of important carbon dioxide reduction initiatives under its Greenliner sustainability plan. This includes adopting thousands of mangroves, using sustainable fuels, reducing contrails, optimizing flight paths, operating more electric vehicles, and working with partners who share their vision of a clean sky.

At the recent Dubai Airshow, Etihad Airways expanded its strategic sustainability plan, bringing together industry leaders such as Boeing, Airbus, General Electric and Rolls-Royce to develop the most comprehensive and inter-organizational development in history Sustainable aviation development plan.

In October, Etihad Airways operated the most sustainable flight ever. Using the experience and efficiency of the past two years, the absolute value of carbon emissions was reduced by 72% compared with the equivalent flights operated in 2019.

EY20 sustainable flight is an example of future commercial air travel. The fact that sustainability has been on the agenda during the pandemic proves the importance of this topic to Etihad Airways.

Throughout 2021, Etihad expanded its carbon offset program, cooperating with Respira, Shell and CarbonClick to support the Cordillera Azul National Park project in Peru and the KatinganMentaya project in Indonesia. At the same time, Etihad offset the annual emissions of its iconic Greenliner aircraft, equivalent to approximately 80,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
