With the restart of services to Kolkata, Etihad will now fly to 14 destinations in the region – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the airline said in a statement.

The plane will take off from Abu Dhabi at 9.10pm local time and land in Kolkata at 3.30am. The plane will depart Kolkata at 4.35am and arrive in the UAE capital at 8.15am local time.

Martin Drew, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Freight Etihad Airwayssaid, “Our return to Calcutta will coincide with our twice-daily flight to New York, via Abu Dhabi, our guests can utilize our US pre-clearance facility to arrive seamlessly in the US. “
Etihad has ceased service Calcutta and Abu Dhabi after the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the airline is resuming its operations in the region as travel restrictions ease.

Last week, low-cost carrier Air Arabia launched a service between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi, flying three days a week. It also operates an Airbus A320.

Kolkata has direct flights to Dubai and Doha, two other West Asian destinations.

Etihad Airways’ resumption of Kolkata-Abu Dhabi service is expected to provide passengers with more options to travel to and from India and the Middle East.
