EU officials said that the country’s UNHRC membership shows that its international influence is growing.
The UAE’s recent elections reflected the country’s “increasing international presence” to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRORC) for the third time, said the vice president of the European Commission for the Promotion of European Lifestyle.
In an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Margaritis Schinas described the UAE as “the pinnacle of power, influence and inspiration”.
Schinas is participating in the EU Honors Day at Expo 2020 Dubai in the UAE, which will be held in the EU pavilions on Saturday.
He said: “The result of the UN Human Rights Council’s vote is the result of the UAE’s efforts to strengthen human rights and freedoms. It demonstrates the UAE’s emphasis on human rights and sustainable development at the regional and international levels.”
“The UAE’s increasing international influence and the normalization agreement with Israel show that the UAE is a catalyst for stability in the region. The United Arab Emirates is undoubtedly a pole of power, influence and inspiration.”
Among other responsibilities, Schinas is also responsible for overseeing the integration of immigrants and refugees. He believes that the international community will continue to “rely on the contribution of the UAE” to deal with the current Afghan refugee crisis.
“The European Union held a high-level forum on the protection of Afghans at risk on October 7, 2021. At the meeting, we announced that we will develop a specific multi-year support plan for Afghans as our contribution to the global Contribution to hard work,” he said. Said.
“I believe that the international community will also be able to continue to rely on the UAE’s contribution to providing Afghan nationals with a legal, safe and organized way. However, despite the efforts of the international community, EU officials still expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan.

Speaking of Expo 2020 Dubai, Cinas said that the event “provides an opportunity for people to reconnect and provide a new perspective through music, food, architecture and culture.”
“This global expo allows all of us to discuss and find solutions to the common challenges we face. As a global community, we need these opportunities to come together and build a common motivation to solve urgent issues such as climate change.

He praised the UAE authorities for “excellent organization of the first global post-pandemic event”, saying that the World Expo “reflects the country’s ambitious vision and global aspirations.”
Schinas is optimistic and hopes that this event will prove to be the beginning of a return to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I really hope this is a sign of the shape of things in the future. Europe is the continent with the most vaccinations in the world, and the UAE’s vaccination schedule is impressive, with more than 85% of the population being vaccinated,” he said.
“This is why the EU included the UAE on the list of safe third countries on October 8. This should also help travel to Dubai and visit the World Expo. We are very pleased that the UAE has achieved this in the process of linking with the EU digital Covid certificate.
