Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi, who has been in space for over a month, tweeted new photos of him sleeping on the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday.

There’s no up or down space, and AlNeyadi uses a sleeping bag that hangs on the wall so he doesn’t float around and bump into something. He also shows off the crew cabin where he sleeps, which is just big enough for one person.

But AlNeyadi points out that even while sleeping, science experiments are being performed. He tweeted: “On the International Space Station, everything we do is a science experiment, including sleeping.

“Through the ‘dream’ experiment, we are studying the sleep patterns of astronauts and the effect of microgravity on our brain activity while we sleep,” he added.

In the photo he posted, AlNeyadi is wearing a dry EEG (electroencephalogram) headband, which is used to measure the brain’s electrical activity. It monitors the sleep quality of astronauts during long-duration spaceflight missions aboard the International Space Station. It also aimed to assess the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in reducing stress and helping cabin crew to sleep.
