Desai also appealed that movies and religion should be separated. “It’s totally wrong. If you’re going to be in Dilip Kumar’s Mughal Azam Won’t run for 17 years. Actors are actors; don’t see their religion — that’s a humble request. It’s all just entertainment,” Desai said.

Further quoting a dialogue from Vidya Balan in the movie Dirty pictureDesai continued, “As Vidya Balan said in her movie, the film industry is entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. Never think about who is Hindu and who is Muslim making a movie. I am not religious. Respect all Religion, don’t compare movies to caste.”
