Experts say that Expo 2020 brings enthusiasm and new events to the UAE-News

[ad_1]

The future of the MICE industry looks very optimistic.

Experts in Abu Dhabi stated that Expo 2020 Dubai has brought many positive factors, and the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry in the UAE and the region is expected to grow with the addition of several new events in the 2022 calendar.

“There are many positive factors for the beginning of the Expo. Two months ago, our prediction said that 2022 will be a difficult year, but now things are getting better,” said Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, executive vice president of venue service management at the Dubai World Trade Center.

He revealed that for an event that is expected to have 1,500 delegates, there are now 4,000 delegates.

“The reality is better than the forecast,” he said at the first Abu Dhabi Business Week.

Julfar stated that Dubai will host many new events after the Expo.

“Dubai hosts more than 20% of the events (events) in the region. But starting in 2019, the situation has changed. From 2016 to 2019, Dubai has launched many new events. Now there is extra space, like Dubai For exhibition halls like the exhibition center, we will also manage this space after the Expo ends. Therefore, in terms of capacity, we will have more than 50% of the space, which means we will hold more events,” he told Khaleej Times.

“The fourth quarter of 2021 is crowded. Some major events will happen in the first quarter of 2022. We are studying how to increase business after the World Expo, which ends in March. We have worked out how to hold new and larger events in Dubai And expand the strategy in the exhibition area.”

Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, revealed that the UAE capital will host six new world-class events in 2022.

“Abu Dhabi’s MICE industry is one of the most important pillars of the tourism industry. We work closely with local and international stakeholders to develop, create and position Abu Dhabi as an important destination and hub for important business activities,”

“We are hosting a series of very long and powerful business events throughout the year in Abu Dhabi. The new shows, six of them, are events where Abu Dhabi won rights,” Al Shamsi told Khaleej Times.

Al Shamsi emphasized that the holding of IDEX-the only international defense exhibition and conference in the Middle East and North Africa-laid the foundation for the return of activities in Abu Dhabi and the region.

“We want it to happen. It was a very successful event. We are now seeing a lot of events happening in the area.”

At the same time, Khalid Al Zadjali, Director of the Oman Conference Bureau, pointed out that with strong vaccination campaigns and world-class infrastructure to host events, countries in the region must focus on local events rather than international events.

“International business is important, but we also need to focus on regional markets. The main challenge is that we don’t know what to expect in the next 2-3 years, which is why we need to focus on this region. This region is the best case study in the world. “Al Zadjali said.

Debbie-Stanford Kristiansen, General Manager of ASM Global, pointed out that the future of the MICE industry is optimistic.

“We must create the right environment to bring people together. Despite the challenges, exciting moments are yet to come. The future is very bright. The industry is moving forward at full speed. In the past two years, we have suffered a lot, Now we are going to move up.”
