“Bangladesh is graduating from a Least Developed Country (LDC) to become a developing country. By pursuing inclusive and sustainable economic policies, we have created some miracles. Other countries can learn from our example,” the envoy said.
“This is an Expo that people from all over the world will visit. We will show our story and our achievements over the past 50 years.”
Bangladesh is celebrating its 50th anniversary of independence this year, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE. In the same year, the country also commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman).

The ambassador elaborated on the success story of Bangladesh. He said that his country has been pursuing an inclusive development agenda-which means a fair development strategy for all administrative regions.
“We have established 100 special economic zones across the country. Even during the pandemic, our exports have seen incremental growth. We are starting from the inclusive and sustainable development of our founders and later expansion by our leaders. Benefits from industrial policy,” Abu Zafar said.
From mass hunger, this country has become a superfluous food bowl.
“We never thought that Bangladesh could grow strawberries and dragon fruit. These are unknown domestic products. We used to be a country lacking feet. In 1972, we used to produce 10 million metric tons of food. Now we produce 45 million tons. Food. We have surplus food production in the country. Today, we are the world’s third largest rice producer and the world’s second largest vegetable growing county,” said the ambassador.
The 2040 vision puts the country on the path of becoming a high-income, prosperous country in the next 20 years. “We are a leading apparel manufacturer. Our pharmaceutical industry is also rapidly expanding. We have transformed from an agricultural country to a medium-industrial country. We are realigning our manufacturing towards this goal,” he said.

The design uses sailboats as a symbol of vitality and livelihood, depicting the country’s socio-economic, cultural and technological changes since its birth.
“The purpose of this metaphorical speech is to invite participants to start the unknown opportunities that this country must provide, so that they can also become part of the indomitable Bangladesh, which is a model of sustainable development, with significant changes in social and economic indicators,” Said the ambassador.
Digital and physical displays are the main attraction of the Bangladesh Pavilion. There will be a tour of modern interactive displays with digital walls and interactive panels. A digital wall of 87.5 square meters and about 20 interactive panels will showcase the different sectors of Bangladesh. On the other hand, the traditional physical display will show the history and culture of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Pavilion will also host a special event for the centenary of the birth of the founding father, allowing visitors to learn about the history of Bangladesh and the 1971 Bangladesh War of Liberation.
Seminars, workshops and discussions will be held to showcase Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s life and ideals and inspiring leadership qualities. The Export Promotion Agency will also showcase Bangladesh’s export products to potential importers from different countries. Various ministries and commissions of the Bangladesh government will also showcase their achievements at the 2020 Dubai Expo.
