Expo 2020 Dubai Committee reviews event, praises number of visitors and organizers-News

The committee considers further improving tourists’ exploration and enjoyment of the Expo experience.

The Steering Committee of the Director-General’s Academy of Expo 2020 Dubai held its first event time meeting, at which it praised the UAE leadership and Expo organizers for providing a strong delivery and an excellent start for Expo 2020 Dubai.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, and Dimitri Kerkentzes, Secretary General of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) attended the committee meeting representing the 192 participating countries of the Expo. ), the management organization of the World Expo.

Al Hashemy said: “We have witnessed the potential of bringing together 192 countries in one place to pursue the positive changes brought about by partnership, influence and heritage. This is a global collaboration that inspires life: it is a way to learn more Opportunities for each other and ourselves so that we can build a better tomorrow.”

BIE Secretary-General Dimitri Kerkentzes said: “The UAE, Dubai Expo 2020 and all international participants together provide an extraordinary experience for tourists from all over the world. The committee is chaired by Manuel Salchli, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of Expo 2020 Dubai and the Swiss Commissioner-General of Expo 2020. The committee is composed of commissioners from 34 countries/regions. It praised the spectacular opening ceremony of Expo 2020 and congratulated the UAE and The event organizers were successful during the opening, especially considering the challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Committee members emphasized that the safety and well-being of all visitors and participants remains the primary responsibility, and everyone has a collective responsibility to ensure safety.

Given the scale of the Expo site, internal transportation for visitors and staff remains an important priority, and efforts will be made to guide visitors to the People Mover system (Expo Explorer and strollers). Organizers and countries also agreed that all strollers in the Expo site will be given priority to tourists who need transportation assistance to facilitate their movement in the Expo site.

The organizing committee will continue to review the operational capabilities of the Expo Site and consider further improvements to ensure that tourists from all over the world continue to explore and enjoy the Expo experience.

The committee recognized the success of the national cultural event celebrating the National Day at the World Expo, while the music and dance performances held at the iconic Al Wasl Square in the center of the venue highlighted the vividness of the Expo theme, “Connecting Thoughts and Creating the Future”.

It also praised the first two theme weeks. More than 5,000 visitors participated in Climate and Biodiversity Week and Space Week. Global experts, political and business leaders, civil society activists and many others contributed to more than 40 events designed to solve and find some Solutions to the most pressing problems of our time.
