Thankachan, who moved to Dubai six years ago, said that he saw the Expo site just “rolling sand.” Since then, he has been fascinated by how it changed from a barren land to a megacity.

“I used to deliver goods in Dubai Investment Park and nearby areas. At that time, there was only one slogan that said’Dubai Expo 2020′,” he recalled.

When the World Expo opened to the public on October 1, Thankachan couldn’t wait to get there. “On the first day, I covered 18 countries, starting with the UAE Pavilion and the Saudi Arabia Pavilion. I was shocked by the design and exhibits inside,” he said.

He came back the next day.

“Within five days, I managed to obtain stamps from 100 countries/regions I visited. I am very happy that my travel has inspired many of my colleagues and family to buy Expo tickets and explore the World Expo,” said Thankachan, who plans to Cover all more than 200 pavilions in the coming weeks.

“I want to come back and buy a souvenir from each exhibition hall. I also want to try all the different dishes.”

For those planning to visit Expo 2020, Thankachan has a suggestion: “Wear comfortable shoes and light clothes. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.”
