Dubai has submitted its closing report for Expo 2020 Dubai to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the governing body for all expos.
The report, titled “The Expo 2020 Dubai Story”, was written by Sheikh Ahmed bin Said, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Group, and Chairman of Expo 2020 Dubai. The report provides a complete account of the UAE’s Expo journey and completes the Expo 2020 Dubai publication trilogy, which was officially submitted to the Bureau International des Expositions, together with the bid and registration documents.
Sheikh Ahmed addressed the Paris-based BIE together with Mohammad Ibrahim Al Sheibani, Director General of the Dubai Ruler’s Court, Vice-Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai High Committee and members of the Expo 2020 High Committee.
It has been 12 years since Al Shaibani traveled to the BIE headquarters to formally present the UAE’s intention to host Expo 2020.
The report details the key highlights and achievements of Expo 2020 Dubai, including overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, as well as the event’s impact, legacy and the future of Expo Dubai. It pays tribute to the countries, international organisations, companies, academic institutions, civil society groups, workforce, staff, volunteers, students and children who have contributed to this flagship national project and a proud milestone in the UAE’s history.
Sheikh Ahmed said: “Under the guidance and continued support of our wise leadership, Expo 2020 Dubai has achieved unprecedented success – an Expo that will leave a lasting impression in the memory of future generations. The report is a lasting record of everything we have achieved, how we have committed ourselves to making a difference and how we have delivered on that commitment together.
