Expo 2020 Dubai: The stunning Singapore Pavilion shows how to build a city in sync with nature-News

[ad_1]

Sky gardens, vertical forests and tropical rainforests… You will find all the greenery you need in the Singapore Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The pavilion is a visual spectacle embodying the theme of “Nature, Nurturing and Future”, an architectural miracle-a green, self-sufficient ecosystem, if you will.

The magnificent green pavilion showcases the concept of a city constructed in sync with nature, and expounds the theme of building a sustainable and livable city in the future.

Take a look at the green expanse of the pavilion:

Singapore Pavilion Commissioner Larry Ng explained: “The completion of this pavilion is very important to Singapore because it provides us with a platform to connect with people from all over the world and participate in important conversations that shape the future.

“When visitors experience the pavilion through its welcome spaces, digital exhibitions and projects, we hope that they will gain a new perspective on how to integrate nature and technology into our urban spaces, and see the possibilities of how our cities are designed Sustainable, liveable and resilient.”

More than 80,000 kinds of plants and trees, more than 70 different varieties and 45,000 pots were installed in the exhibition hall. Many plants are sourced locally, while more plants come from Singapore.

“These plants are edible and can be used for different purposes. We want to show why investing in urban agriculture is so important, whether it is climate change or food resistance,” Larry added.

The official said that now is the time to take action to promote urban agriculture and vertical greening. He also explained the importance of owning such buildings in Dubai.

Three iconic structural cones form the basis of the pavilion. These aim to demonstrate the concept of energy saving and the creation of a sustainable ecosystem.

Visitors entering the first structural cone will see a multimedia display on how to contribute to the construction of a green city. A walkway runs through a series of vertical gardens, sky gardens and rich flora.

The second cone is a replica of a large tropical rainforest, which helps visitors understand how plants and greenery can still be part of world-class buildings. Thanks to the additional atomization and dry fog system, this cone is much cooler than the rest of the pavilion.

The extremely tight nozzles distribute water under high pressure to form fine droplets that feel like fresh air, thereby contributing to the thermal comfort of the structure and reducing the temperature by 6-10 degrees.

Ar Yap Lay Bee, deputy curator of the Singapore Pavilion, said that visitors can look forward to a wonderful sensory experience through multi-layered green plants that reflect the story of Singapore’s sky gardens and vertical green plants.

The entire exhibition hall is powered by solar energy, and solar cells are installed on the roof to use green energy for the building. Even the water used in the pavilion is collected from the ground below the structure and desalinated before use.

The last cone will show the hybridization of plants. Hybrid orchids of various colors are on display here-a real visual enjoyment.

More importantly, a female bug robot provides insight into the miracles of technology. It is specifically designed for machine learning to identify plant types and provide information about the plants in the exhibition hall.
