Ahmad Ibn Majid (Ahmad Ibn Majid) was a great Muslim navigator. He was born in Jurfar (now Ras Al Khaimah) in the 15th century. He was nicknamed “Sea Lion” and wrote many Literary works on marine science and ship sports. Lifetime-when Arab sailors are considered the best sailors in the world.
Ibn Battuta was a great medieval Muslim Moroccan traveler in the 14th century. He wrote a book about his adventures, “The Riḥla” (“Travel Notes”). This famous work details his explorations, covering approximately 75,000 miles (120,000 kilometers), visiting many Muslim countries, as far as China and Sumatra (now part of Indonesia).
The Mobility Pavilion pays tribute to these huge Arab figures through elaborate graphics, telling stories of innovations that have helped drive global mobility over the centuries.
By uncovering the stories of these ancient Arabian giants, visitors can explore the concept of movement, its power and far-reaching influence, and discover the role of the region in advancing human exploration.
These giants will become one of Alif’s large attractions-the mobile pavilion, where visitors can travel through time and space and explore how people, innovation, technology and data interact in increasingly complex ways.
