Expo 2020 Dubai announced the launch of Space Week on Thursday, featuring a series of content, discussions, and chats with two astronauts from the UAE.

The event is jointly organized with the UAE Space Agency and the Mohamed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and will be held from October 17th to 23rd.

In a chat with UAE astronauts Hazza Al Mansouri and Noura Al-Matroushi on October 17, many other well-known astronomers and space scientists will also share their latest discoveries and missions.

The Space Business Forum for Expo 2020 Dubai, jointly planned with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce on October 18, will focus on the sustainable development of the international space sector and the creation of value for society. The star lineup includes Sarah Al Amiri; Naoko Yamazaki, a former JAXA astronaut, member of the Space Policy Committee and the second Japanese woman in space; senior attendees from NASA and the National Space Administration of Luxembourg and South Africa.

During Space Week, there will be four World Council meetings and one Women’s Pavilion Council.

On October 21, the “Hope and Perseverance: Lessons Learned from the Red Planet for Life on Earth” will discuss with groups from all over the world what the exploration of Mars has for the future of human species on another planet.

Other activities include “Never Lose: Learn to Read the Stars” at the Australian Pavilion on October 23, which will bring together digital and physical celestial demonstrations.

On October 23, we will discuss space travel and sustainability with the UAE Space Agency. The event was jointly planned with Slovenia and included a keynote speech by Maruška Strah, Executive Director of World Space Week.

Space Week is the second of 10 themed weeks to be held during the Expo 2020.
