DUBAI – K-Pop band Stray Kids, with 34 million followers on social media, has been named ambassador for the Korea Pavilion.

For lovers of Korean art, music and technology, the National Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will host a big event.

Moon Byung-Jun, Consul General of the Republic of Korea, said they will attract tourists with the best K-Pop bands and technological innovations.

“We are bringing popular K-Pop stars to Dubai with weekly shows. Some bands, like Stray Kids, have millions of fans in the region and they will be performing at the expo,” said the Consul General.

There will be performances and performances every day where tourists can immerse themselves in South Korea, art and music, the diplomat said, adding that thousands of South Koreans are eager to visit Dubai during the expo.

The envoy said that the Korean Pavilion is very unique. “It is very creative and future-oriented. We have the fifth largest pavilion at the Expo, located in the traffic area. True to our theme ‘Smart Korea, let the world work for you’, we will show the world Korea’s technological prowess,” Wen said.

Renowned Korean architect Moon Hoon designed a dynamic façade for the pavilion that constantly moves and interweaves real and virtual environments.

Hoon used 1,590 rotating digital and analog cubes to create a continuously moving image on the pavilion’s exterior. “The cube reacts and moves according to a software program. So, it can be a face, a picture, a piece of text. Visitors don’t need to enter the pavilion to experience it. The exterior itself is like an art installation,” Hoon said in a previous post. told Khaleej Times in an interview.

According to the Consul General, the design of the five-story building interprets the concept of “group dance and excitement”, striving to reflect the vitality of Korea on a floor area of ​​more than 5,200 square meters.

The open interior will feature a spiraling exhibition space that will allow visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the Expo 2020 site.

The Asian country, known for its tech prowess, will also host events to take advantage of its growing global popularity of film, television and music.

South Korea will also highlight its world leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution through cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and the Internet of Things.

“When people enter the pavilion, they will be given a mobile phone, and they can create their own avatar to virtually visit South Korea’s high-tech cities, cultural and tourist attractions. We will also introduce you to our most innovative technologies , these technologies can bring the world closer,” the diplomat said.
