The FBI has reportedly raided the home of former FTX executive Ryan Salame.part of salam Sam Bankman-Fred

and served as one of his top advisers before the collapse of his cryptocurrency exchange last November. The raid has become the latest development in the DOJ’s investigation into FTX’s collapse.

Purpose of Raid on Ex-FTX Exec’s Home Unknown

according to a report New York Times, FBI agents arrived earlier today to search Salam’s home in Potomac, Maryland. People familiar with the matter shared news of the raid. The purpose of the raid was not immediately clear. Salame, who serves as co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, has not been accused or accused of any wrongdoing, unlike other former executives such as Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang who have been charged over Sam Bankman-Fried’s cryptocurrency debacle.

Ryan Salame came under scrutiny last year after his company filed for bankruptcy. Regulators and lawmakers are particularly concerned about the millions of dollars he spent on political donations during his tenure at the cryptocurrency exchange. Salam reportedly spent more than $24 million in last year’s midterm elections. Much of that money went to Republican candidates, unlike Bankman-Fried, who spent more than $50 million supporting Democratic candidates and political action committees. Prosecutors allege that the funds used for these political donations were misappropriated from customers of cryptocurrency exchanges.
