FCI flow meters and flow switches comply with the UAE Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS)
FCI flow meters and flow switches comply with the UAE Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS)

September 29, 2022 – Independent assessment and review confirms thermal sensing technology Air/Gas Flow Meters and Flow/Level/Temperature Switch Made by Fluid Components International (FCI) Complies with the new requirements of the UAE Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) and the UAE Quality Mark (EQM).

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ECAS process specifies quality and safety requirements for industrial and consumer products. The UAE ECAS certificate certifies that FCI’s flow meters and flow switches have been accredited by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MOIAT). Obtaining EQM-Ex status is a comprehensive evaluation program and quality mark licensing program that confirms that FCI products are suitable for installation in potentially explosive locations.

With the growing need and global concern for plant and operational safety in the chemical, power, oil/gas, refining, and other industries, instrument certification specifications have expanded. Today, adhering to country-specific professional standards such as the UAE’s ECAS/EQM is more stringent than ever.

FCI’s precision thermal mass flow meters, flow switches and level switches are designed, manufactured and certified to operate safely in some of the most demanding industrial operating environments and applications in the world. FCI product approvals include FM, FMc/CSA, ATEX, IECEx, NEPSI, EAC/TR CU, Inmetro, KC, CCoE/PESO, and now EQM-Ex for HazEx installations, as well as CE Mark, ECAS, UKCA, CPA, CRN, SIL, AMS/QAL 1, etc.

To ensure that FCI provides unbiased failure rate data, FCI has responded to these international requirements by using an independent authorized third-party testing facility. These include Intertek and other companies such as TÃœV, Dekra, LabTest and exida, which perform these assessments and certifications on FCI’s product portfolio.
Understanding the flow rates of liquids and gases through pipes and liquid level points is critical for industry. Combining precision thermal mass sensors with rugged electronics, FCI instruments are designed to provide accurate, highly repeatable flow and level measurement solutions for a variety of industrial process applications.

When FCI’s thermal diffusion sensing instruments are in operation, they operate 24/7 to ensure safe and efficient process and plant operations. They minimize the use of raw materials to protect global resources, while saving energy and reducing the environmental impact the process can have.
For over fifty years, FCI has been a world leader in thermal dispersion technology. The company invests time and resources to optimize, continuously improve and perfect this technology. It provides flow and level measurement solutions for a variety of industrial equipment and process applications. FCI solutions are designed, validated and tested to meet or exceed customer requirements and the world’s most stringent global safety and quality standards.

FCI’s newest air/gas flow meters combine the most feature-rich electronics with the industry’s most advanced flow sensor array for a truly state-of-the-art flow metering solution. They combine measurement accuracy with a rugged design and the industry’s broadest selection of analog and bus communication outputs. They can be easily installed into a single tap point in the pipe and require little maintenance.

FCI flow switches are ideal for a variety of air, gas, water, and liquid flow alarm/trip point detection applications. Liquid level switches provide highly repeatable liquid level and interface detection. They feature advanced no moving parts, rugged thermal diffusion sensors combined with sophisticated electronics, with field user-settable alarm/trip points for open collector and relay outputs. They are bivariate in nature and also include temperature measurement, so dual alarms for flow and temperature or level and temperature can be performed from a single instrument.

FCI’s world-class flow calibration laboratory has 19 different flow stations and uses equipment traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and ISO/IEC 17025 (international standard) to test and calibrate all FCI products to Ensure instrument accuracy matches the customer’s actual fluid and process conditions.
