FedEx is celebrating 50 Days of Caring, a community service program in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region. It’s part of a series of initiatives during the countdown to the company’s 50th birthday on April 17 this year.
More than 1,000 FedEx volunteers and their families in 21 AMEA markets including Australia, Bahrain, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, China, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Various community-based initiatives have been implemented in Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Zambia, focusing on sustainability and environmental protection, education, welfare and support for underserved populations.
Some of the programs undertaken include:
• Packed a total of 4,800 boxes of essential food for the less fortunate in Egypt and the UAE this Ramadan.
• Conducted beach cleanups in the UAE, Bahrain, India, China and Australia to reduce waste and build cleaner coastal communities.
• Conducted waste collection campaigns in the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, India, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Japan to help provide a cleaner, waste-free environment.
• Planted trees in Saudi Arabia, India, China, Singapore, Vietnam, and planted plants and shrubs around office facilities in Kuwait.
• Distributed meals in India as part of the Akshay Patra Lunch Program to provide nutritious food to underserved populations.
• Give new life to old fabrics in Thailand, including decommissioned FedEx uniforms in Indonesia, through an upcycling program.
