Transport Canada has completed the expansion of the air transport agreement between Canada and united arab emirates (UAE), it announced on Wednesday (April 5).
UAR is the largest air transportation market in Canada middle East, Ottawa said. Expanding its airline relationships enables airlines to introduce more flight options and routes, providing more choice and employment opportunities.
According to a press release, the new agreement allows for 21 weekly flights per country.
This will allow for 50% more flights than the maximum number previously possible, facilitate new routes and give airlines greater flexibility to adapt to changes in market demand.
Ottawa said the move would better accommodate the growing Canada-UAE air transport market, improve global connectivity and support tourism and trade activity between the two countries.
“The expansion of the Canada-United Arab Emirates Air Transport Agreement will improve Canada’s international connectivity and strengthen people-to-people and business ties,” the Minister of Transport said Omar Al Gabra“As we continue to support the recovery of Canada’s aviation industry, we are pleased that this expanded agreement will benefit even more Canadian travelers, industry stakeholders and Canadian aviation workers.”
“It’s great news for tourism and good middle-class jobs for Canadians.”
The new rights under the extended agreement are immediately available to airlines.
The deal is also in line with Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy Because the UAE is a hub for many flights Asia.
