Festival coordinator releases entertainment headlines

[ad_1]

With the Delta Festival just a few days away (October 22), we’re looking forward to a great day filled with music, food, reunion, art and fun. We’ve been introducing some bands for the festival in recent weeks. Now is the time to announce the final band.

Helping us transition from afternoon to evening will be our local favorite SLASH If you haven’t had a chance to hear this band, they are a great local band playing all genres from rock to southern country favorites.

With vocals Joseph Lindley, bassist Roger Albritton, guitarist Kelvin Simmons and Steve Simmons drummers keeping the beat, SLASH always delivers great performances. Last year they entertained us with musical entertainment the night before our Delta Festival and drew a large group of family and friends for our Fairground Rock night earlier this year.

Next on the Gateway stage was McComb’s “Mississippi Blues Kid” Castro Coleman, aka Mr. Sipp.

He started playing guitar at the age of 6. His outstanding voice, songwriting ability, musical talent, ability to make records, and ability to entertain fans with upbeat, quirky performances all make Mr. Sipp “The Total Package”.

Mr. Sipp is the winner of the 2014 Vicksburg Blues Society International Blues Challenge and the recipient of the 2014 Gibson Award for Best Guitarist. That same year, Castro was awarded the Bobby Rush Artist of the Year Award by the Jus’ Blues Foundation, and in 2015 he received multiple Jackson Music Awards, including International Male Blues Artist, Blues Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year. Mr. Sipp’s favorite quote is: “I live to love the life I live, music!!!”

Finally, by popular demand, our headline tonight is The Band US.

For those who don’t know yet, America is a rock band whose main mission seems to be keeping rock music alive in the Southeast. They offer every show like it’s the first they’ve done or the last they’ll ever do.

Kelly Nagy (vocals), Jeff Mannis (guitar), Richie Wright (drums) and Corey Lessard (bass) always took the time to talk to people and take pictures between their sets. A good chunk of their collection is ’80s rock and roll, but don’t let that fool you. Just when you think you’ve pinned them down, they’ll start a country favorite and get back to their medley from Grease. They are constantly entertaining and interacting with the crowd to keep them engaged. These guys know how to show a good time to a crowd!
