Responding to a post on a social media blog, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, spokesman for the chairman of NiDCOM, said that “300 Nigerians were abandoned in Dubai as NIDCOM, NAPTIP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs eased evacuations on Thursday”.
He said that despite repeated warnings by the Federal Government of Nigeria through its relevant agencies of the consequences of illegal immigration to the UAE and other countries, it is regrettable that some Nigerians still find themselves victims of this irregularity.
“Under its citizen diplomacy, the federal government has approved the evacuation of more than 300 Nigerians stranded in the UAE. Sadly, many of those affected are not fully cooperating as they refuse to follow the prescribed procedures.
“The investigation also revealed that more than 100 Nigerians who had served various sentences (from drugs to credit card fraud, robbery, etc.) suddenly landed at the detention centre, asking the Nigerian consulate in Dubai to bring them back ‘immediately’. Their voices were the loudest. loud.
“Dabiri-Erewa said some Nigerians were not following the instructions of the Nigerian consulate in Dubai and were busy with media extortion against the federal government and the UAE government. Such media extortion would make an already bad case worse, she said. , noting that the rules for such cases would not be circumvented.
“Recalling several warnings to Nigerians, especially the UAE’s zero tolerance for the consequences of ignoring its rules, she added that the allegations of Nigerians being abandoned in Dubai are completely untrue and misleading because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigeria The delegation has been working closely with UAE authorities to help more than 300 Nigerians who are stranded in the country for various reasons, including overstaying, lost passports, lack of documents, especially for babies, and pending cases from UAE police case.
