Finance guru tells Manchester City to plan Abu Dhabi mission as new talks begin

[ad_1]

Manchester City are guaranteed to profit from a mid-World Cup friendly if they host it in their owner’s home country.

This is the opinion of financial expert Dr. Dan Plumley, specifically for Football Insider About the possibility of traveling to the United Arab Emirates.

The Premier League will be suspended at the end of November before resuming on Boxing Day to accommodate the World Cup in Qatar.

This daily mailIt was reported last Friday (September 30) that top clubs are now discussing friendlies with each other to keep players at their best from playing.

It is understood that most matches will be played behind closed doors and at traditional venues.

Plumlee explained why a team like Manchester City might choose not to sell tickets for domestic friendlies, and why going abroad is the only way to guarantee profits.

“It depends first and foremost on location,” Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider Adam Williams.

“If it’s in another country, you can see traction in terms of ticket sales. If it’s at home, you have to factor in the cost of hosting the game.

“A lot of contracts and subcontracting arrangements are likely to be made based on the fact that X games will be played this season.

“Well, for some big clubs it’s going to be trivial. But there’s also security, medical facilities, etc. That’s the money element you have to balance.

“Can you make enough money at a time when people are focused on the World Cup? There is money to be made, but you have to think about the extra cost.”
