The Finnish prime minister has said she did not use drugs during the “wild” party at her private residence, adding that she did nothing wrong while letting her hair down and partying with friends.

A video posted on social media showed six people, including Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, dancing and imitating songs in front of the camera.

Later in the video, Ms. Marin, 36, kneels on what appears to be the dance floor, dancing with her hands behind her head, imitating songs.

“I was disappointed that it was made public. I spent an evening with my friends. Party, very crazy, yes. Dancing and singing,” she was quoted as saying by Finnish broadcaster YLE.

“I have not used drugs myself, nor have I used anything other than alcohol. I have danced, sang, partyed, and did absolutely legal things. Nor have I encountered them,” Ms Marin added, according to the Hufvudstadsbladet newspaper. I will know what others are doing.

It is unclear when the party will take place, which was reportedly attended by Eduskunta or parliament member Ilmari Nurminen, representing Ms Marin’s Social Democrats and Finnish singer Alma.

Ms Marin, who became Finland’s youngest prime minister in December 2019, said she has the same free time as anyone else her age and intends to continue to be herself as before.

“I hope this is accepted. We live in a democracy where everyone can decide these issues in elections,” she said, according to YLE.

Critics point out that Finland shares an 832-mile (1,340-kilometer) land border with Russia, faces high electricity prices, and other problems with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The country has recently abandoned a long -term neutral position and asked to join NATO.

In July, Ms. Marin participated in a popular Finland Rock Music Festival. In December, she went out clubbing without a work phone until after 4am to publicly apologize and was therefore not told she had been in close contact with a Covid-19 positive person. She did not test positive.
