The house where American entertainers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg once lived has been destroyed by fire in the Dorchester area of Boston.

Boston Fire Chief Paul Burke said the blaze started at a nearby home around 10am (3pm BST) on Sunday but spread to three other buildings due to strong winds.

Two firefighters were injured and a resident was taken to hospital. There is no immediate information on the cause of the fire.

One of the homes involved is 25 Peverell Street, where the Wahlberg family once lived.

Mark Wahlberg visited his home during the production of the Netflix film “Wonderland” in 2018 and 2019.

In a video posted on social media, the actor stood shirtless in front of the house, describing it as “where it all started”.

The home affected by Sunday’s fire is a classic Boston construction known as a three-story, a common family home in the city.

“There were four three-story vehicles on fire, mostly in the back of the porch building,” the fire commissioner told WCVB-TV. “It was a very narrow street.”

Boston Fire Department spokesman Brian Alkins said 15 people were displaced by the fire. He estimated the damage to the building at $2 million (£1.7 million).
