Flights to Dubai: Airline issues UAE travel advice for passengers from Ethiopia-News

Emirates said that passengers from Ethiopia will need to obtain GDRFA and ICA approval from September 4.

The Dubai-based airline announced new travel rules for Ethiopian passengers-effective September 4, 2021.

In the latest travel update published by Emirates and flydubai on their websites, starting at 12 a.m. on September 4, 2021, passengers arriving in Dubai from Ethiopia will need to meet the following entry requirements:

-They must be able to present a printed copy of a negative Covid-19 PCR test result (displaying a QR code) in English or Arabic of a test conducted by an approved health service in the country of departure no more than 48 hours before departure Inbound flights to Dubai take off;

-Passengers must undergo a rapid PCR test (based on molecular diagnostic tests, aimed at qualitative nucleic acid testing of SARS-COV-2 viral RNA) at the departure airport within 6 hours after boarding (the test report must display a QR code).

-They must undergo a PCR test when they arrive in Dubai.

The travel update says that children under 12 and passengers with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from testing.

Flydubai stated that passengers departing from Ethiopia do not need to obtain approval from the Federal Identity and Citizenship Administration (ICA) or the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to enter the UAE.

However, Emirates stated that residents travelling from Ethiopia to the UAE need to obtain ICA or GDRFA approval.

No rapid PCR testing facilities hinder travel

Emirates added in its statement that passengers travelling from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Vietnam, Zambia and Indonesia to Dubai as their final destination cannot currently travel because the airport does not have rapid PCR testing facilities.
