Flights to UAE: Indian travel agency warns of scams against stranded residents-News

[ad_1]

Residents stranded had to deal with various scams, such as the fake website of the UAE Embassy in India, which issued fake travel permits for fees.

Residents of the UAE stranded in South Asian countries that currently suspend passenger entry face a new problem: the scam promises to send them back to the emirate.

The stranded residents had to deal with various scams, such as the fake website of the UAE Embassy in India, which issued false travel permits and charged fees; suspected false positive Covid-19 results; and touted that more than eight people would be tied up Earn money quickly in a hotel room.

Entry of passengers between the UAE and the Indian subcontinent continues to be suspended until further notice.

Since the announcement of restrictions on flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, touts and fraudsters have been busy.

The stranded UAE residents have an expensive and time-consuming option to return to the country through other destinations. If they stay in another country without travel restrictions for 14 days, they can return.

However, several people interviewed by Khaleej Times told a sad story.

Traveling through the Maldives

DR is a Delhi-based travel agency that echoes the terrible travel stories of these busy travelers.

“I have stopped accepting bookings from UAE passengers stranded in India through green-listed countries such as the Maldives. I recently arranged trips for two UAE foreign families — four for each family — from Male to Dubai. However, despite The travel arrangements were foolproof, but a few days after the families landed from Delhi and Mumbai, trouble came.

“They will return to Dubai after the 14-day mandatory quarantine period for PCR testing. One of the two family members was “reported” as positive for Covid-19, which aroused suspicion from travelers.

“Then they decided to uncover the truth and conduct their own tests at another medical institution in Male, but they are expected to get a negative result there,” he said.

Although the cost of travel and accommodation in the Maldives is approximately AED 6,500 per person, this is only a basic package. He said that travelers need to pay at least AED 11,000 or more to buy a decent room.

DR added: “It is reported that many passengers are eager to board the first flight available without considering the details of the trip. Unfortunately, they only figured out that this would pose a danger to themselves after landing at these destinations. .”

Coming to the UAE via Qatar

Some travelers have also reported problems encountered while traveling in Qatar.

The rules stipulate that UAE residents who intend to travel to Dubai via Doha, Qatar, must comply with these regulations: they must have received two Covid-19 injections; 7,500 dirhams; and show hotel reservations for at least 10 days, which can be further extended in accordance with the quarantine regulations.

However, peddlers and deceptive travel agencies are killing people because they threw more than eight people in a dirty room during the sweltering summer.

“I found that these travelers cannot maintain any social distancing. Many people may contract infectious diseases by blatantly disregarding preventive norms, because some agents are guided by greed,” DR added.

Is the risk worth it?

However, South Asians who are anxious and stranded in their respective countries are willing to take this risk.

KK is a bank employee. She has stayed in Bangalore since early April to take care of her sick father. She said it was time to go home and keep the family running.

“My husband’s schedule is very tight. He is taking care of our toddler son. It is difficult for him. In the next few days, I need to return at all costs,” she said.
