flydubai ends one-month matchday shuttle service operation

Dubai-based low-cost airline flydubai has announced that it has enabled more than 130,000 football fans to travel easily to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup.

From 21 November to 19 December, the airline operated 1,290 flights between Dubai World Central (DWC) and Doha International Airport (DIA) to transport these fans to Doha for the “world’s biggest sporting event”. “.

According to flydubai, passengers from 171 countries travel conveniently to Doha on these matchday shuttle flights to cheer on their favorite teams. The top 10 countries by passenger numbers were the United Kingdom, India, UAE, France, Argentina, the United States, Morocco, Jordan, Canada and Brazil, accounting for 60% of the total number of passengers on these shuttle flights.

Commenting on the matchday shuttle flights, CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “We are very pleased that the operation of the special matchday shuttle service in Doha has been a great success, thanks to the support of the Qatari authorities and all stakeholders in Dubai. These shuttle flights allow More fans can travel easily and conveniently to enjoy the excitement of the game.”

“The fact that there have never been 30 daily round-trip flights between the two countries in the region demonstrates the high level of commitment, efficiency and collaborative approach required to successfully complete this mission,” Al Ghaith said.

According to him, flydubai operates up to 30 matchday shuttle flights a day, every 30 minutes during peak travel periods of the day.

“The flights were operated by the airline’s seven Boeing 737 aircraft, which were temporarily deployed at DWC during the match. As a regional airline partner, flydubai showcased special football-themed displays on two of its new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. livery to celebrate the victory of the Argentine national football team,” said Al Ghaith.
