Dubai-based airline flydubai has announced the launch of weekly flights to Osh, Kyrgyzstan from 3 November, becoming the first Emirates airline to operate non-stop flights from Dubai.

The addition of flights to Osh makes it a second destination in Kyrgyzstan, including the capital Bishkek.

With the launch of the Osh route, flydubai expands its network in Central Asia to eight points, offering passengers from the UAE more options to travel to the region. This includes Almaty and Astana in Kazakhstan, Bishkek and Osh in Kyrgyzstan, Dushanbe in Tajikistan and Namangan, Samarkand and Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “Central Asia continues to be a rapidly growing market and we are delighted to see our network grow in Kyrgyzstan with the operation of Osh, a cultural melting pot with the region’s largest The important and oldest bazaar. flydubai is committed to strengthening the connection between different cultures, with a total of nine weekly flights to the market, we believe our new service will strengthen trade and tourism relations between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan.”

Osh is the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan after Bishkek, with a history of more than 3,000 years. The city is located in the Fergana Valley, a densely populated agricultural region with a population of over 13 million that is shared with neighboring countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Jeyhun Efendi, senior vice president of commercial operations and e-commerce at flydubai, said: “Since we first operated a twice-weekly service in Bishkek in 2012, we have seen sustainable demand in the market. Today, the service has increased to daily and increase to twice a day in summer. Our flights to Osh will be a welcome addition to passengers who will now have an easier option to travel to Dubai from another location in Kyrgyzstan, and in Enjoy our reliable and enhanced service on our young Boeing 737 fleet.”

There are two flights per Monday and Thursday from Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 2 to Osh International Airport (OSS). Flights depart from Osh International Airport (OSS) to Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 2 every Tuesday and Friday. Emirates will codeshare this route, giving passengers more options to connect via the Dubai International hub.

Round-trip fares from DXB to OSS start from AED 7,500 (USD 2,041) in Business Class and AED 1,650 in Economy Class Lite. Round-trip business class fares from OSS to DXB start at $2,700 and economy class Lite fares start at $440. – arab trade news agency
