“Since she joined our organization in January 2019, Valerie’s skills, vision and determination have positively impacted every part of Spectacor sports and entertainment,” Scott said.

“She has expertly guided our business through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, oversaw our incredible $350 million investment in the new Wells Fargo Center, and built the most impressive of all sports and entertainment , one of the most diverse and creative teams.

“Without a doubt, Valerie is one of the strongest and most innovative executives in all of sports and entertainment, and we are proud to announce her promotion to President and CEO of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment as we look to future.”

when she be hired, she became the first woman to be hired as the president of an NHL franchise. Camillo previously served as chief marketing and revenue officer for the Washington Nationals from 2014-18. Before that, she worked for the NBA and IBM.

A source close to the situation told The Inquirer that Camillo’s promotion has nothing to do with the future of Scott, who is also the flyer’s governor.

Camillo played a leading role in helping modernize the business operations of the Flyers and Wells Fargo Centers and improve the overall fan experience.

She oversaw the implementation of a contactless, cashless payment system, increased non-ticketing revenue streams, and helped the organization navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Camilo’s leadership has also seen the creation of new spaces such as the BetRivers Sports Lounge and Shift4 Club (the first courtside and ice volleyball club in Philly sports history), as well as the reimagining of the Wells Fargo Center’s dining offerings.

Finally, to return to the roots of Ed Snider’s humanitarian vision, Camillo has spearheaded a new charity program that every Flyers player will be a part of Partner with local charities 2022-23 season. This comes after the last two years due to the pandemic have greatly limited the team’s ability to appear in the community.
