Foreigner tortured to death in Virobrajan

hariyanjogja.com, JOGJA — Persecution leading to death takes place at Indomaret Jl. Hos Kokrominoto, Virobrajan Kemantren, Wednesday night (August 31, 2022). The dead student was a foreigner (WNA).

The victim died and was injured by the perpetrator with a knife and fell after running 300 meters. Yogyakarta police are currently looking for the perpetrators of the harassment. The hunt for the offender was based on witness testimony and CCTV footage from Indomaret.

Jogja police chief Idham Mahdi said the incident began when the victim and two of her friends were walking indoors. He explained on Thursday (Jan 8, 2022): “At about 20.00 ET, there were about eight people hanging out at the crime scene, and then at 20.15 ET, two people drove to contact the group of victims.”

Then two car drivers approached the people and three newcomers arrived at 21.00 WIB. “Three new guys came and called a guy to talk,” Idham said.

Then around 23.30 WIB, three men left the scene, followed by two men driving a white car. “Ten minutes later, at 23:47 on CCTV, a group of about 10 people came back in autonomous vehicles,” explained Idham.

Idham went on to say that the group immediately attacked the victim and his friend with an axe, causing the victim to be stabbed to death in the chest. “Some people ran indoors, some people were hiding in warehouses, some people were in bathrooms, some people ran back to their boarding houses,” he said.

Idham explained that the victim was taken to Ludira Husda Tama Hospital in a Tegalrejo police patrol car. “The victim was pronounced dead after being hospitalized,” Idham said.
