With the return of the popular seasonal theme of the forest, visitors can learn about the fascinating, dreamy world of the forest at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.
Although they occupy only 30% of the earth’s surface, forests are home to about 80% of land animals, including birds, and are vital to the health of the planet and people. The Forest Seasonal theme highlights the diversity of forest habitats around the world and actions that can be taken to help preserve them and their winged inhabitants.
Visitors can stroll through the lush, tree-lined habitat, admire the wood trim, explore the bird world through interactive play spaces, and learn about the unique ways birds use materials in the forest to build their nests during the event.
The forest opened last Wednesday until January 2nd.
This weekend is your last chance to shine during SeaWorld, the exciting summer at the National Aviary. One show that won’t be washed away by the end of summer is Wonderful Waterbirds, an interactive experience where flamingos and pelicans strut around visitors at the Helen M. Schmidt FliteZone Theater. Opportunities to see these fascinating birds up close will continue through the end of the year.
