Boateng was convicted of domestic violence against his ex-partner and ordered to pay her 1.8 million euros.

Former German and Bayern Munich football player Jerome Boateng was convicted of domestic violence against his ex-partner and ordered to pay her 1.8 million euros ($2.1 million).

This is the highest possible economic loss that the Munich District Court may impose.

Prosecutors have been seeking probation for one and a half years and a fine of 1.5 million euros ($1.7 million).

Prosecutor Stephanie Eckert told the court on Thursday that Boateng’s former partner Schellingsenler was a “victim of domestic violence”, but Boateng was also a “victim of their mutual poisoning relationship.”

Boateng, 33, denied the allegations of abuse and reacted calmly to the court’s decision. He can appeal the ruling.

Boateng earlier denied that they injured Senler while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands in July 2018. He was accused of intentionally hurting and insulting Senler, the mother of their two children.

The indictment stated that Boateng beat her, punched her, bit her head, threw her on the ground and insulted her. The prosecutor’s office also accused Boateng of throwing a glass lantern and cooling bag at his partner.

Boateng told the court that his former partner had become aggressive and insulting in a dispute after a card game. He said she hit him and broke his lips, and when he tried to push her away, she fell. He objected to throwing a lantern at her, but said that when he threw the mat on the table, the lantern fell.

Boateng said he has never beaten his ex-girlfriend.

Senler later told the court that Boateng hit her kidney so hard that she had difficulty breathing. She said that he tore her hair, bit her head, and pressed his thumb into her eyes, making her eyes dark. She said that the incident on July 19, 2018 was not the first of its kind, but the most violent.

She said the couple had been in an “intermittent relationship” since 2007. “Our relationship is always turbulent,” Senler said.

Boateng, who appeared in court in a dark blue suit and white shirt, shook his head from time to time when Senler testified to the court. His defense lawyer Kai Walden (Kai Walden) has previously stated that his client is contesting the allegations.

Boateng suggested that Senler file this lawsuit against him to improve her chances of winning the custody dispute over her children. Senler rejected the suggestion.

The trial was postponed due to coronavirus restrictions.

Boateng no longer plays for Bayern. The club refused to extend his contract at the end of last season. He signed with the French team Lyon in the European summer transfer. In March 2019, he was fired by German coach Joachim Löw as part of the reorganization of the team.
