When Khaleej Times contacted them in India, her family hoped not to comment during this difficult time and urged them to protect their privacy as they tried to cope with the loss. Tanvi has been studying for a degree in psychology and English in Dubai.
In 2012, Tanvi, who was only 12 years old, won the Women’s Under 14 Championship in the Asian Series in Doha. But a series of injuries shortened her career. She had previously trained at the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academy in the Kochi Regional Sports Center.
“Her hero is Rafael Nadal,” Indian sports magazine quoted her mother Lilan as saying Sports meetingr, Wednesday.
“She is lively and energetic… She used to play tennis for four hours a day, and then played with the boys on the football field, racing against time, and spent 21 years of life.
“We all moved to Dubai, she started to play for her university, and once went to Abu Dhabi to participate in a university level game,” she added.
