The 1994 Best Picture Oscar winner “Forrest Gump” will close the 23rd Roger Ebert Film Festival on April 22 at the Virginia Theater, organizers announced Monday.
Actor Mykelti Williamson – who plays Forrest’s shrimp-loving sidekick – will accompany Roger Ebert called it “an amazing movie” in his four-star review.
“Forrest Gump” was one of six films announced Monday, rounding out a lineup of 11. A film festival, April 19-22, around the theme “Empathy in Film” was also announced:
— “My Name Is Sarah” (2019). This award-winning documentary tells the story of Sara Góralnik, a 13-year-old Polish Jew whose parents were killed by the Nazis at the start of the Holocaust. Hired as a nanny by a Ukrainian farmer and his wife, Sara, an Orthodox Christian, must endure hard work while trying to protect her true identity and discovering that her employers have dark secrets of their own.
