Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre’s ‘Hug’ campaign to launch in partnership with food delivery app Deliveroo

UAE residents can now see Deliveroo riders in pink uniforms making deliveries across the country. Customers will also receive a pop-up message through the app for free screening at multiple centers, according to authorities.

The announcement comes after the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) announced a partnership with global biopharmaceutical company Merck & Co. (MSD) for a ‘Hug’ campaign in October to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The 2022 campaign is supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and will be launched in partnership with food delivery app Deliveroo to promote breast cancer awareness messages to people living in the UAE.

Deliveroo app users will receive pop-up messages and flyers throughout October for breast cancer screening and educational content related to the disease. Deliveroo riders will wear pink uniforms and ride pink bikes to raise awareness of the cause.

Additionally, as part of the campaign, free screenings will be offered at multiple centres in Abu Dhabi, including Abu Dhabi Health Services – SEHA, Mubadala Investments, NMC Healthcare and Mediclinic Middle East.

Burjeel’s team will work with Pink Caravan of Friends of the Cancer Patient (FOCP) to encourage regular check-ups and early detection.

Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri, Director of the Centre’s Community Health Unit, said on the occasion: “By working with the private sector, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer in October. Working with cancer among residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi The fight is one of the public health priorities that fall under the ADPHC initiative, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month is designed to raise awareness among women about early detection of the disease, disease warning signs, consultation with a doctor, and reporting any changes.”

She added: “Following a healthy lifestyle plays a key role in achieving community safety, as early detection of disease is a major factor in reducing deaths. The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre advises women from ‘if breast cancer develops in the family, age Be 40 years old or earlier. Ashraf Mallak, Managing Director of MSD GCC, said: “We are committed to contributing to the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) and reducing the global breast cancer mortality rate by 2.5% annually, thereby preventing 2.5 million breast cancer deaths worldwide. 2020 and 2040.”
