New York, September 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, during New York Climate Week, the establishment of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerator (UICCA) was announced. UICCA is a non-partisan climate action entity that will bring together members of the public and private sectors, including academic institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to advance the UAE’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. According to guidelines set by the United Nations Environment Programme, a green economy is “low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive”, putting social equity, well-being and minimal environmental risk at the heart of decision-making. This shift will help boost GDP growth, increase employment opportunities and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global environmental, social and governance (ESG) hub and a climate action pioneer.
