Holiday buzz at the Jefferson Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Friday night as “Danny O’Flaherty’s Celtic Christmas” brings Christmas customs from England to Metairie.
The show features O’Flaherty and festivities from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall and more.
Through songs and stories, the show provides insight into the centuries-old celebrations of the Celtic peoples.
Performers will include dancers from the Muggivan Irish School of Dance as well as Scottish bagpipers.
O’Flaherty, a native of Connemara, Ireland, has been entertaining songs of Celtic origin for many years.

As luck would have it, “The Nutcracker! The Magical Christmas Ballet” will take to the stage at the Saenger Theater with a professional touring company and 70 dancers from southeastern Louisiana.
Performing will be local dancers from the Arabesque Ballet Theater International. Lucia Kuimova, the artistic director of the Mandeville studio, said local students ages 6 to 17 appear in most of the ballet’s scenes, often dancing according to the principles of many of the productions.
The Moscow Ballet Touring Company brings a diverse international cast to performances from more than 10 countries. Elaborate costumes and sets fully embody the main elements of the festival.
Set to a timeless score by composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1892, this fantastical tale is filled with holiday magic, parties, dreams, dancing flowers and snowflakes, and even a few Only fighting rats.
Entertainment takes place at the Saenger Theater on Tuesdays at 4pm and 8pm.

The popularity of Goat In the Road Productions’ “The Family Line” has prompted a second extension of Beauregard-Keyes House’s immersive drama.
Inspired by the events of the 1892 General Strike, the show will take place on January 29 at the Historic Home and Gardens, 1113 Chartres Street, French Quarter.
The original was performed by an ensemble cast depicting late 19th-century New Orleans who went on strike for a shorter workday, higher wages, and unionized stores. BK House is a place where Sicilian immigrants rent their houses.
Viewers can explore the home as they follow the characters through the events of the day.
Shows are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 6pm and 8pm and Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets are $40.access www.bkhouse.org.
