As the golden jubilee of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) approaches, the country is entering a new stage of history, a new era of development path, and a new cycle of economic, political and social development. This document summarizes the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. The UAE’s foreign policy is a tool designed to serve higher national goals, and the most important method is to serve the economy. The goal of the economy is to provide the UAE people with the best quality of life.
The fourth principle
The main driver of future growth is human capital. Developing the education system, attracting talents, retaining experts and continuously developing skills are the factors that keep the UAE on the leading edge.
The fifth principle
Good-neighborly friendship is the foundation of stability. The country’s geographical, social and cultural proximity is the first line of defense for its safety, security and future development. The development of stable and positive political, economic and social relations with the region is one of the most important priorities of the country’s foreign policy.
Sixth principle
Consolidating the global reputation of the UAE as a country is the national mission of all institutions. The UAE is an economic destination, a tourist destination, an industrial destination, an investment destination and a cultural destination. Our national institutions must work together to benefit from these capabilities and strive to build global enterprises and partnerships around the world.
Seventh principle
The UAE’s outstanding achievements in digital, technology and science will define its new development and economic frontiers, and consolidating its position as the capital of talent, companies and investment in these fields will make it the capital of the future.
The eighth principle
The UAE’s value system will continue to be based on openness and tolerance, upholding rights, consolidating the rule of law, upholding human dignity, respecting culture, strengthening human fraternity and respecting national identity. The country will continue to support all through its foreign policy to promote peace, openness and humanity Fraternity initiatives, commitments and international organizations.
The ninth principle
The UAE’s foreign humanitarian assistance is an important part of its vision and moral responsibility to the unfortunate country. Our foreign humanitarian aid has nothing to do with religion, race, color or culture. Political differences with any country should not prevent us from providing quick relief to those in need.
Tenth principle
Calling for peace, harmony, negotiation and dialogue to resolve all political disputes is the foundation of the UAE’s foreign policy. Working with regional partners and global friends to establish regional and global peace and stability is the fundamental driving force of our foreign policy.
10 principles will guide our progress in the next 50 years.
