Arabian Franchise Awards celebrates and honors some of the region’s top franchise entrepreneurs, leaders and their legacy in 2022

Galadari Ice Cream, which operates Baskin-Robbins in the region, has won the prestigious Franchisee of the Year award at the Arabian Franchise Awards. Held in conjunction with the Arabian Franchise Expo, the ceremony celebrated and honored some of the region’s top 2022 franchise entrepreneurs, leaders and their legacy.

The grand event revolved around the franchising industry, bringing together 100 brands and 60 franchising companies, and representatives from more than 20 countries participated.

“Winning the Franchise Operator of the Year award is a major achievement for our team,” said Stanly Abraham, Chief Financial Officer, Food & Beverage, Galadari Brothers. “It recognizes our commitment to providing premium Baskin-Robbins ice cream and service to customers in the region. As the first QSR brand and largest single franchisee in the U.S. with more than 1,000 locations in the region, we appreciate our loyal customers and dedicated team members for their ongoing support. We are proud of this achievement and will continue to work hard to maintain our position as the leading ice cream supplier in the GCC. We would like to thank the Arab Franchise for granting us this prestigious award.”

Galadari Food & Beverage Division – part of the Galadari Brothers Group – has been a Baskin-Robbins licensee for over 40 years, operating over 1000 Baskin-Robbins stores in the Middle East and Australia as well as Dunkin’ Donuts in Qatar.

The Importance of a Franchise

The ceremony kicked off with a keynote address by the event’s key guest, Dr. Eesa Mohammed Bastaki, Rector of the University of Dubai and recipient of the UAE’s highest award in science, the UAE Excellence in Science, Literature and Science. Art.

He spoke extensively about the latest insights highlighting the importance of local franchise brands and how these trends are impacting local economies.

“Local brands have more opportunities to discover potential customers’ needs, preferences and what their competitors lack,” he said. “It allows them to meet the needs of their customers every time. They increase employment. Starting a new business has a big impact on job creation in your city.”

Arabian Franchise Expo helps businesses across the world form partnerships and generated over AED120 million in transactions at the event.

Expo organizers say they have had a very encouraging response from participants. “[It] This has prompted us to target more franchise brands for next year’s event, covering 15 industries across multiple cities in the Arab countries, with a grand event in London to ensure global exposure for local brands from the Arab countries,” said Chairman of the Arab Franchise Expo , Khaled Al Maeena.
