game house, On Wednesday, September 21st, a new two-story indoor and outdoor mixed-use venue in downtown Long Island celebrated its grand opening.
The Gamehaus, located at 5-14 51st Ave., serves as a sports club, restaurant, arcade, and beer hall. Offering over 20 beers from New York City and tri-state area microbreweries, as well as an array of craft cocktails, mocktails and bar food, the venue elevates the comfort food classic.
The venue is a family business run by co-owners Stephen Cheng and Corissa Leong in partnership with New York-based hospitality company El Grupo SN (Somewhere Nowhere).
“We wanted to create a multifunctional entertainment venue that would best represent and appeal to our neighborhood residents,” Leong said. “Whether it’s someone looking for a place to have a good meal with a wide variety of beers, cocktails, mocktails, a friend looking for a place to catch up while watching the big game, or a young Families want to host their children’s birthday parties in our upstairs arcade and play loft. Our goal is to find a place that suits everyone.”
Impressive 5,000 sq. ft. multipurpose space with more than a dozen large-screen TVs and an 11-foot LED video wall—if not one of the largest in LIC—to watch every sporting event live and top billing Check out the events paired with its array of arcade and table games. Before entering the main arena, a small preview of the more comprehensive selection of arcade classics offered on its upper level greets guests as soon as they arrive.
With more than a dozen TVs scattered above each table and banquet areas set against grey stone wall panels, groups can personalize their Gamehaus experience by tweaking the games that matter most to them. The centerpiece of the main floor is an LED wall over 11 feet tall, showcasing the most important games and allowing fans to cheer on their teams just in time for the start of the football season and the start of the baseball playoffs.
Immediately adjacent to its bench seating is its main bar area, covered in a lime grey bar top and a wood-panelled back bar adorned with three large-screen TVs, so no one misses any action from the big game.
Up the stairs, with a huge Gamehaus sign and a towering restored chandelier, is the main gaming area. The upstairs indoor/outdoor bar is home to most of the venue’s classic arcade games, including Pop-A-Shot, Skee Ball, Ms. Pacman, Atari Pong and Jurassic Park, with more to come over time .
In addition, Gamehaus has a range of classic table games including poker, table shuffleboard and chess. In terms of physical space, the site plan provides an unforgettable virtual world experience, supported by Nathan Leong of SWNW Labs, and will be announced in the coming weeks.
As for catering, Gamehaus will provide from Chef Tasha Abelson. The opening menu includes some witty meals inspired by old-school arcade games: This Super Mushroom Burger ($18) served with marinated portobello patties, garlic and herb sauce, tomato, and served with sesame bread; and Jalapeno Balls ($12) Dig your Super Mario Bros fireball. Jalapeno Balls are savory and spicy, stuffed with cream cheese, pickled jalapenos, peppadew peppers and pecans.
Other items, all freshly prepared in-house, include Signature Game House Burger ($20) made with organic beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, homemade sauce on brioche buns; a Kabbalah Burger (20 dollars) It is prepared with organic bbeef patties, fried eggs, caramelized onions, bacon and parmesan); Tempura Squid ($15); and select wing ($15) offers tempting flavors including: Boneless Buffalo, Lemon Pepper, Mango Habanero, and Cauliflower Buffalo and tacos Offers shrimp, squid and shredded meat.
For drinking, the venue offers 20 beers that rotate seasonally, with a focus on local New York City and tri-state brewers, including Fifth Hammer Brewing, icon, six o’clock and Wine barrels and lanternsto name a few, and a selection of wines perfect for game day.
Craft Cocktails selects homemade dessert wines by blending or redistilling the spirit’s natural ingredients such as fresh juices, fruit, herbs and cream.Some examples include Watermelon Basil Cooler with basil, grey goose, lemon and watermelon wedges; one Easter with Saint Germain, rum, passion fruit puree, pineapple and lime; and gamhausback Pair with Grilled Pineapple, Lime Liqueur, Anchos Reyes Verde, Resposado and Great Jones Bourbon.
