Géant UAE forms partnership with Bustanica

Géant, part of GMG, has announced a strategic partnership with Emirates airline Crop One, a joint venture between Emirates Airline Catering (EKFC) and Crop One, an industry leader in technology-driven indoor vertical farming.

Bustanica, the world’s largest hydroponic farm, will now supply all Géant hypermarkets and supermarkets in the UAE with a new range of premium leafy greens, including lettuce, arugula, mixed salad greens and spinach.

Located near Al Maktoum International Airport in the heart of Dubai World, Bustanica’s 330,000-square-foot facility is designed to produce over 1 million kilograms of premium leafy greens annually.

Marc Laurent, President of GMG Retail – Consumer Goods, and Kieran Dowd, General Manager of Emirates Crop One and Vice President of Procurement Solutions – Emirates’ Food and Beverage, announced the partnership at the Géant hypermarket at Dubai Hills Mall.

“We will provide our customers with Bustanica’s innovative and vertical produce and further exceed their expectations for high-quality fresh food. Offering a wide variety of locally sourced indoor-grown greens is the fulfillment of our long-term commitment to a more sustainable future Another milestone,” Laurent said.

Bustanica uses 95% less water than conventional farms and is powered by powerful technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. A highly specialized in-house team ensures products are super fresh and clean, and grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemicals.
