PETALING JAYA: Genomics Resource Centre Malaysia Bhd has signed a partnership agreement to market and distribute the group’s Dtect range of genetic screening services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agreement is a collaboration between Genomics Malaysia and the American Spine Center (ASC), a spine injury and spine pathology specialist based in Dubai, UAE; Balsam Health Services, a healthcare provider headquartered in Dubai, UAE; Wellness by Design FZ LLC (Wellness by Design FZ LLC (Wellness by Design) by Design) is a nutrition, obesity and weight loss specialist based in Dubai, UAE and IAC International LLC based in Sharjah, UAE.
Under the agreement, Malaysian Genomics, ASC, Balsam and Wellness by Design will explore joint or joint project strategies for medical tools or solutions, while the role of the IAC is to support activities in priority areas, coordinating the parties and collaborating with other organisations as appropriate.
IAC will also be the point of contact between Malaysia Genomics and ASC, Balsam and Wellness by Design.
Noor Azri Noor Azerai, Executive Director of Genomics Malaysia, said the agreement will allow for technical trials and evaluation of its Dtect screening test for commercialisation in the UAE.
“The role of Genomics Malaysia will be to provide technical and scientific support under the agreement. Furthermore, we are constantly looking for opportunities to collaborate with like-minded businesses and organisations to expand the market reach of Dtect and our other services,” he added.
Dr. Hisham Hakim, Chairman of ASC, Balsam and Wellness by Design, said he looked forward to the addition of Dtect to provide more choices for patients.
“We are committed to achieving clinical and technical excellence while ensuring cost efficiency,” he added.
Nurul Faten Jasmee, CEO of IAC, said: “There are many opportunities to expand genetic screening services in the UAE and the wider MENA region. We will provide coordination between parties, business delivery and Project management, followed by commercial rollout and expansion throughout the MENA region.”
