Georgia’s Ministry of Economy announced on Thursday that Georgia’s Deputy Economy Minister, Romeo Mikautadze, joined global energy leaders, policy makers and industry professionals at the ongoing Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference to discuss Here comes the current trends in the Georgian energy sector.
The state agency said Mikautadze promoted a “favorable investment climate” for the industry and participated in a panel on opportunities to channel Caspian energy resources to Europe. He noted that the electricity transmission infrastructure currently supplies hydrocarbons produced in the Caspian region to the EU market.
The deputy minister said that the development of Georgia’s energy sector is related to increasing the use of renewable energy, developing electricity transmission infrastructure and transporting energy received in the South Caucasus to Europe.

The official also told attendees that Georgia is working with partner countries to build a transmission line at the bottom of the Black Sea, which will make the energy system in the South Caucasus part of the EU network.
The Abu Dhabi conference, which opened on Monday, will close today.
