Horror film barbarian Tops the weekend box office charts after rave reviews and a 93% “Certified Fresh” label from aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
The film was written and directed by an actor-turned-filmmaker Zach Craighe explained to ABC Audio, that the project started as an exercise: try to write a scene where a character encounters many “red flags” when meeting new friends.
in the movie, Georgina Campbell Paying Tess, she discovers a mysterious man lives in her rented house, and red flags pile up from there. With that in mind, we wondered about her own red flags.
“Well, I guess in this case, it’s like going into an Airbnb and having someone there for sure is a red flag,” she said with a laugh.
“You just have an instinctive feeling for people, don’t you?” she mused.
“Sometimes it’s just the way someone looks at you or says something and you get that feeling in your stomach, ‘Oh…they’re not right,'” the actress said with a laugh.
for Justin Longwho usually plays the “good guy” role, is an interesting stretch to play AJ, a disgraced former star who also ends up in increasingly creepy rent.
“I don’t usually get a chance to play someone who is flawed…so I had a good time,” he said.
Regarding his character, he explained, “I know some of these guys. Unfortunately, I have something to draw from.”
He said of his first directorship: “Zach…gives us two a lot of freedom…but he has this particular vision. So it’s a really great combination.”
