Get hooked on the Holey Mackerel Family Entertainment Center this summer

[ad_1]

Tripper Duval, co-owner Bayview Lost Whale Loungewill soon open the Holey Mackerel, a family entertainment center with miniature golf, batting cages and a playground.

Holey Mackerel is located in Konkel Park in Greenfield, formerly the River Falls Family Entertainment Center.

The project is undergoing a major renovation in two phases, with Duval hoping to open in early July 2023. The first phase of the project includes a revamped miniature golf course, six driving ranges, a playground (“barcade”), and extensive dining options.

“We’re working on getting a liquor license to bring some of the fun we had at Lost Whale to the Holey Mackerel,” Duval said.

The second phase of construction involves removing the bike track and building a year-round events center with indoor bocce lanes, a stone pizza oven and a stage with a big screen for sports games and family movie nights.

Arcade Tournaments, Mini Golf Theme Days and the New Year’s Day Mini Golf Classic are some of the special events already planned for Holey Mackerel. Charity fundraisers will also be part of the show, Duval said.

Although he hadn’t envisioned owning a home entertainment center before this, Duval says the project couldn’t have run more smoothly.

“Not to be too cheesy, but (the adventure) really felt like it was meant to be,” Duvall said.

Last year, Duval tried to take his kids to play miniature golf at River Falls, but realized it was closed for good.

“I felt like this was a huge loss for families in our area. So after hearing about the enthusiasm for the program in this city and how well it benefited them, I made a few calls,” Duval said . “It was like fate, a lot of things just fell into place and after about six months, it was mine.”

The response from Greenfield residents has been overwhelming, Duval said.

“It’s actually pretty overwhelming,” Duvall said. “I’m excited to bring some fun for the whole family.”

Duval says the name “Holey Mackerel” started as a bar concept he envisioned for the future. However, after investing in a family entertainment center, it seemed like an ideal name for a miniature golf course.

“It’s also a Wisconsin phrase, and it’s really caught on,” Duvall said. “I’m excited to open the doors and give the folks who have been golfing here since the ’90s the fun new releases they’ve come to expect.”

Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for a sneak peek when Holey Mackerel is complete.
