The user will be able to automatically update the parking ticket and pay the fee via WhatsApp instead of the current SMS message

The Dubai Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) will introduce technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) in bicycle lanes to count the number of users and measure their compliance with safety procedures on Gitex this year.

In addition, RTA will introduce technology to allow users to automatically update their parking tickets and pay parking fees via WhatsApp instead of current SMS messages.

Starting on Sunday, October 17th, RTA will also demonstrate the use of artificial intelligence in vehicle testing and a new model of the public bus journey planner using smart screens at bus stops. Director General Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer Chairman of the Executive Board of RTA Said on Saturday.

RTA will showcase a series of projects and smart plans on Gitex 2021, the most important of which is the projects that are eligible to participate in the finals of the 2021 Dubai World Autonomous Driving Traffic Challenge.

“RTA has developed a comprehensive roadmap for the future of autonomous transportation and has developed a master plan for digital transformation to keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution,” he said.

These projects are the result of instructions from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city.

“RTA has made progress in implementing Dubai’s autonomous transportation strategy, which aims to convert 25% of Dubai’s total mobile travel into intelligent autonomous transportation by 2030,” Al Tayer said.

Artificial intelligence on the bike path

“As part of participating in Gitex, RTA will showcase a series of projects and initiatives that have qualified for the finals of the second Dubai World Autonomous Transport Challenge. The theme is: Autonomous Driving Logistics, including ground transportation and unmanned Machine,” he added.

RTA will exhibit five qualified projects in the “leading company” category and six projects in the “local university” category.

“RTA will also demonstrate a plan to use artificial intelligence to monitor bicycle lanes to make Dubai a bike-friendly city. The plan uses computer vision technology to improve safety procedures and ensure that cyclists comply with applicable rules, such as wearing Helmets and observing speed limits,” Al Tayer said.

Pay for parking

Smart parking apps have recently been equipped with innovative features for paying fees, such as 3D maps, automatic renewal of parking tickets, and payment of parking fees via WhatsApp as an alternative to SMS services.

In addition, RTA said it will showcase a series of other services that will enable customers to automatically pay for parking in smart courtyards and multi-storey parking buildings. RTA will also showcase an intelligent scanning device that can issue digital fine tickets.

Visitors will also be familiar with RTA’s use of artificial intelligence in the vehicle technology testing center to detect any improper behavior.

“In addition to using big data platforms to analyze customer feedback and complaints received through social media portals or customer databases, it also uses machine learning models and artificial intelligence to improve the level of services provided to the public,” Al Tayer said.

The initiatives on display at Gitex will also include a journey planner, which uses a new generation of smart screens to deliver instant information to passengers. “

Therefore, passengers will be able to plan their journey smoothly, quickly and accurately on the touch screen at the main bus station. RTA will also display digital nol through the nol Pay application, which interfaces with Huawei smart devices, allowing users to recharge smart cards and purchase traffic permits, as well as pay public transportation fares and nol card purchase outlets across Dubai ,” he added.
