The countdown begins. Led by Dubai Cares, in cooperation with Expo 2020 Dubai, and in close coordination with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), the groundbreaking RewirEd Summit will begin in four days.
Occurs within three days between 12-14dayDuring the 2020 Dubai Expo Knowledge and Learning Week, the RewirEd Summit will provide a platform to promote the transformational changes needed in education.
The intensive debates, seminars and change initiatives being demonstrated will all focus on three key themes: youth skills and the future of work (day 1); education innovation (day 2); and education financing (day 3).
There is a strong lineup of speakers at the RewirEd Summit, including Gordon Brown now United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education; Chairman of the Board of the Global Education Partnership (GPE), His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania; Patricio Bianchi, Italian Minister of Education; HE Shamma bint Suhai bin Faris Al Mazrui, UAE youth Secretary of State; Mamta Murthi, Vice President of Human Development, World Bank; Bob Moritz, Global Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers;Alan Qiaopu, CEO of Unilever; with Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO, Dubai Cares, The host of the summit.
Joining these speakers in a much-needed dialogue about the future of education are young changemakers, teachers, and NGOs from all over the world.
More than 100 high-level panel discussions and group discussions will focus on pressing issues, such as:
- Reimagining higher education
- The power of public/private partnerships to advance educational opportunities
- Girls’ Education: An Islamic Perspective
- Education and its key role in responding to the climate crisis
- Moving forward from COVID-19: funding remedial education for the world’s most vulnerable children
this RewirEd Education Connectivity Declaration: Action and Investment Framework,Developed by UNESCO and Dubai Cares, it will also be launched at the summit. It aims to build consensus and commitment through collective cooperation between major stakeholders, solve the main barriers to connectivity, and emphasize the need for an ecosystem to Achieve meaningful connectivity to ensure affordability, availability, and reliability for learners and the community.
RewirEdSummit’s decisions and recommendations will be submitted to the United Nations and global stakeholders, forming a core part of the future education roadmap.
