Strict certification standards:
To achieve global humane certification, both SeaWorld Abu Dhabi and Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue have gone through rigorous third-party assessments – months of preparation – that examine the well-being of the animals in the care of the parks and centres. This unique process is guided by the latest science and informed by respected veterinarians and experts with decades of animal conservation experience in the fields of animal welfare, animal science, zoology and ethics.
The independent verification process — which goes beyond helping to protect animals — gives park visitors confidence that the facility is meeting high standards of care. The process includes a pre-vetting application period followed by a site visit to assess animal welfare. Factors considered during the review include, but are not limited to, housing, food, water, lighting, shade, sound, activity levels, and training of staff to interact with animals. Specific benchmarks vary by species.
