The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) recently named Mathew Ratner Director of Sports and Entertainment Tourism.
Ratner previously served as deputy director of sports and entertainment tourism for 10 years. With an impressive background and extensive industry experience, Ratner is on a mission to drive sports and entertainment tourism to new heights in Greater Miami and Miami Beach.
“Mathew has been an integral part of our team for over a decade,” said David Whitaker, GMCVB President and CEO. “He has played a key role in bringing prestigious events to our destinations, including Miami-Dade County’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2026. These types of events have a significant economic impact, create jobs, support local businesses, and Promote our destination’s brand globally as a premier sports and entertainment hub.”
As Associate Director of Sports and Entertainment Tourism, Ratner worked with the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee and the successful College Football National Championship bid, cementing Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s reputation as a premier sports destination. In his new role, Ratner will continue to spearhead Greater Miami and Miami Beach as a destination of choice for major sporting events, conventions and conventions, and support the Miami-Dade Office of Film and Entertainment (FilMiami) and various municipal Partnerships.

With Ratner’s support, GMCVB has built strong relationships within the industry by serving as the travel liaison for all professional sports franchises in Miami-Dade County, furthering the organization’s collaboration with various local sports organizations.
Ratner holds a master’s degree in entertainment and sports management from Florida International University (FIU) and a bachelor’s degree in communication and leadership studies from the University of South Florida (USF).
