Two men got into an altercation over golf, with one biting the other’s nose in a casino parking lot, police said.
Mark Wells, 51, of Biloxi, Mississippi, initially fled the scene in a Tesla before turning himself in, Bay St. Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said.
The victim was taken to the hospital with no nose, WXXV-TV reported.
Police responded to a complaint about the attack at the Hollywood Casino on Monday night and found a man with facial injuries and disfigurement, the statement said.
“The investigation determined that the suspect, Mark Curtis Wells, bit off the victim’s nose,” Mr Schwartz said.
Officers were told Wells and the victim had been arguing throughout the day about a game of golf they were playing at the resort.
Wells was charged with a felony and was taken to Hancock County Jail, where he himself paid 10 percent of his $50,000 (£40,000) bond and walked out within an hour, WXXV said.
According to the Biloxi Sun-Herald, Wells could face up to seven years in prison if convicted of the felony, which state law defines as a premeditated “mutilation, disfigurement, maiming or destruction of someone’s body by a suspect.” tongue, with intent to kill, eyes, lips, nose, limbs or other body parts”.
