ABU DHABI – The General Pensions and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) said that inspections by entities across the UAE are aimed at correcting inaccuracies unknowingly made by employers/entities regarding the registration and payment of contributions due to insured Emiratis practice, and to ensure that they comply with all legal requirements imposed by the Pensions and Social Security Act.
GPSSA has highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships and communication with employers/entities to protect the rights of insured Emiratis and their families, emphasizing that registration with the authorities is the first step in obtaining insurance benefits.
Publishing a breach and having to take legal action as part of GPSSA’s ‘Your Promise Protects You’ campaign is not a welcome solution, but rather a move to further awareness and re-correct practices to avoid issuing expiry warnings It does not mean that the insured completed the enrollment and contribution requirements unknowingly.
The agency said the judicial seizure grants inspectors the right to enter the employer’s premises without prior notice to determine the nature of the entity’s proceedings against UAE employees who are protected under pension and social security law provisions.
During employer/entity visits, inspectors have the right to see documents and records related to the implementation of pension law provisions and verify the fact that UAE employees within the organization are registered within one month from the date of employment and are fully aware of their rights and obligations, and ensure that the employer/entity provides GPSSA with the termination of service documents and documents of its employees, no later than one month from the date of termination of service.
